Google Maps print app retired; other map apps available

If you’ve recently launched the Google Maps print app, you probably noticed a message letting you know the print app is no longer supported and was removed from your printer (for Photosmart eStation owners, you may notice this soon after December 15). This is not an error; the Google Maps print app is no longer available for use or for download through the “Get More” options.

MapQuestWe do, however, continue to provide other mapping print apps for you, including Bing Maps with Directions and MapQuest Directions & Maps as two options for US-based customers with touchscreen models.

Bing MapsTo begin using the Bing Maps and MapQuest apps for printable maps and directions, simply go to the “Get More” button on your touchscreen and add the apps to your printer.

Please note that this change has no effect on other Google print apps – the Google Calendar print app for instance is something you can continue to use.

They took Google Maps and left us with Microsoft Bung? Definitely time that homebrew apps were allowed on this store!

Russell_Payne (July 15, 2011)

Wow! I'm sure this has something to do with Google, and Not HP. Surely HP would not remove the premier Google Maps in favor of Microsoft's Bing. Who likes Bing? None of us Googlers...

murbino (March 30, 2011)

Bring Google Maps back!

redder1234 (March 27, 2011)

No google maps?  Whoops!

hpws$17096068026 (March 26, 2011)

Google maps is what most people use. Please bring it back.

dac2132 (March 24, 2011)

HP, please re-enable google maps. It's the one many of us turn to.

WIFEY0214 (March 16, 2011)

jdub50 (Feb. 20, 2011)

MURPHFILES (Feb. 15, 2011)

lindakc67 (Feb. 13, 2011)

Neither of the Map apps nor the Google Calendar print app are available for the 6500A Plus.  Will they be anytime in the near future?

BobAngel (Feb. 10, 2011)

What about support for the UK on 6500 710n?

nookie2011 (Jan. 30, 2011)

I just received my eprint so I`m trying to learn as much as I can.

bhehe (Jan. 29, 2011)

So why isn't this available for 8500A owners? Is there no map application at all for us?

diorun (Jan. 25, 2011)

bruce_thornhill (Jan. 19, 2011)

terryharleyrides (Jan. 11, 2011)

I've had nothing but trouble with this so called  "Cool Printer",,, hp should have done more before putting out this printer,, the dic, that came with it has its own problems,,and you have to go online to find so called solotions,, to be around #10 diffierence trys,, then wait on them to come up with something else to try,, I'm tryed of wasteing all this time,, there are better companys out there and as for the apps, that is the biggest joke out there today,, sad is that this could have been really big if done right the first time,,, hopefully some company out there can do a better job at this whole idea,,, I just hope more apps,,better online ideas,, bigger screen,, maybe 10" or 12" and put some kind of holder on the back so that you don'nt  have to hold it all the time,, you know, like when you want to show pictures,,ect..This has been a real let down in more ways than one,, waste of $$$,, waste of my time in so mean ways,,NO THANKS ever again,, you could have done so much more!!!!!

cashncarrie (Jan. 11, 2011)

HP needs to get their act together with this app idea..  Why are they limiting things on one printer vs. another.. Its a piece of paper that we are printing on.. can't they provide us with more control over the settings?

jackor (Jan. 10, 2011)

You are nuts to remove the Google Maps app - this severely devalues my printer - can I return it?

jpunishill (Jan. 7, 2011)

Was this an GOOG decision or an HP decision? Why would you retire the most popular maps tool on the net? Disappointing...

rdeleonsr06 (Jan. 5, 2011)

both of these apps are not available for my printer

1rmrider (Jan. 5, 2011)

If you can afford to buy a printer then you can surely afford to buy a gps. Quit crying about it.

Vikinca (Jan. 3, 2011)

Neither MapQuest nor Bing Maps work with the CM1415...

bomart (Dec. 31, 2010)

What a bunch of crybabies. Is getting a map app the omly reason to buy a printer. Mine works fine , wireless and from other devices. Perhaps it is the way you installed it.

MDixon (Dec. 30, 2010)

Im not sure how the mac does but it took me a little time but to get the install but when I set up the software and did a reboot of my system everything seem to start to download . The first key is you have to put it on the wireless

cbeisel (Dec. 29, 2010)

That's a shame.  Looks like I'll continue to use my computer and/or android phone to use google maps.

JerBear100 (Dec. 28, 2010)

dan20m (Dec. 28, 2010)

any reason why google maps was discontinued app. It was the preferred map app.

moronic_kaos (Dec. 27, 2010)

It's called bait and switch.  Technically it's illegal, but unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it.

hpws$10000591026 (Dec. 25, 2010)

the get more on the printer sends me back to here, LOL

hpws$10000591026 (Dec. 25, 2010)

taking back to best buy, can't do maps with any apps. not a good printer B210

rclapper1 (Dec. 25, 2010)

No new map apps showing available for my new Photosmart B210a eprinter. Why do you say they are available?  I've been unable to print even Bing maps, saved as bmp or png images, and attached to email sent to my eprinter. Remote eprinting is difficult and too limited.  I'm very dissapointed, and may return it to Costco. The future of Eprinting is not here, yet

Ameridutchman (Dec. 23, 2010)

Why post apps if they are not available for my printer? How STUPID is this?!!! I bought a top of the line ePRINTER tobe able to use these apps, so why show a dingle dangle carrot in my face to have is say NOT FOR THIS PRINTER, GEEE , hey HP WAKE UP !!!!!!  Who does your Marketing should get a kick in his/her @*&@*(&

hpws$99692836 (Dec. 21, 2010)

The "Get More Apps" link is on the HP ePrintCenter website.  Click "APPS" on the navigation bar at the top of the webpage.  There is a "Get More" icon on your printer.  Touch the "Apps" icon on your screen and it will be the top left icon on the next page; but it just directs you to the ePrintCenter website.  However, I am experiencing the same thing as PJMaxi.  When I follow the Bing and MapQuest links on the ePrintCenter website, both say that they are not available for my Officejet Pro 8500A Premium printer.  What's up with that, HP?  I am a US-based customer with a touchscreen printer.  According to your description above, either one should work for me.

MarcIV (Dec. 21, 2010)

"Get More" ??  My touchscreen doesn't have any stinkin' "Get More" icon.

Carmen (Dec. 19, 2010)

Are you telling me there are no map apa for my printer as well?  Thats not good

hpws$39326305 (Dec. 19, 2010)

My printer apps says Google Maps has retired and to use Bing or MapQuest in its place; however, when I went to both apps from the links in HP ePrint, they both say they are not available for my printer which is Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One-B210a. What am I to use then?
