- More fun and functionality in expanded print apps
Holidays starting early? Seems like they are for customers of HP Photosmart All-in-One/e-All-in-One printers (models with a touchscreen) with the release of new print apps under the "Get More" icon on their front panel.
While we introduce new print apps regularly, this week we have six special free apps in honor of the announcement of new web-connected printers. There's a little something for everyone:
For families with young kids
Customers who have young kids already know what added value these web connected printers bring in the way of kid-pleasing printables. Our partnerships are strong as ever, and this week we welcome Sesame Street and Leapfrog to the mix.
With the Sesame Street print app, you and your kids can print books, coloring pages, and learning activities. The gang from Sesame Street – including Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and Grover – are all prominently featured in the printables. My own kids have been enjoying the "trace your letters" worksheet and printable books – all of a sudden, storytime becomes more fun when the kids can select a book from the printer and watch it print in minutes.
Designed for preschool- through 2nd grade-aged children, the Leapfrog print app features a wealth of educational materials that may very well be appealing to families who homeschool and for those who just like providing their little ones with brain-building activities. I like how Leapfrog organizes the worksheets, puzzles, and such by putting them into categories that include Literacy and Learning, Math, and Learning for Life.
We are proud to announce the Delta Air Lines print app, the first boarding pass app to be released on our printers. So many customers have suggested partnering with an airline to bring easy airline check-ins to the home... and we delivered. The Delta Airlines app lets you log into your Delta SkyMiles account, check into your flight, and print out your boarding pass – hopefully saving you time at the airport or on your PC the night before.
Additionally, road warriors will appreciate the Bing Maps print app. Powered by Microsoft's Bing search engine, this app lets you input address information to get turn-by-turn directions to your destination. You can select printed output in text and/or map form, and the best thing is, the information is perfectly formatted – a big plus over print-outs I usually get from my PC.
Bacon waffles anyone? People who enjoy cooking and looking at mouth-watering photos of food will want to check out the My Recipes print app. Taking the best recipes from MyRecipes.com – which means the best selection from Cooking Light, Southern Living, Sunset, Coastal Living, All You, Real Simple, and Health collections – means there are a range of delicious culinary choices available at the touch of a button. This app joins a couple of other popular recipe apps already available, including Kraft Foods print app and Recipes from Coupons.com print app.
Many customers buy HP Photosmart printers for the ability of printing amazing, lab-quality photos. But until now, it's been difficult to access and print collections stored online on services such as Snapfish. To make things easier, we welcome the Photobucket print app.
Like photo print apps we aleady have, including the Snapfish print app and Picasa web albums print app, you can access your Photobucket account online directly through your web printer's touchscreen interface. After a login, online photo albums will appear on your printer and you can browse and select any of your photos for printing.
I invite you to take some time to explore the new print apps and tell us what you think. Remember you can always check for more apps (and even see if the print apps you already installed have new content) by looking at the front panel or by visiting the HP ePrintCenter.
