It's here: Pick your printer's (simpler) email address

Until now, everyone who has enabled ePrint capability has had the dubious fortune of trying to memorize a pretty complicated printer address - the 12-character, randomly generated ePrint addresses were not exactly user friendly.  However, starting today, every new and existing customer around the world can pick a personalized, custom ePrint address.  Here's how:

  • Exisiting customers: If you already have an HP ePrint-enabled printer, log into your HP ePrintCenter account.  Click the "change" button next to where your existing ePrint address is displayed, and follow the prompts to complete the process.
  • New customers: Visit the HP ePrintCenter and sign up for an account.  Add your printer to your account and you will see the printer's pre-assigned email address, which you can customize by clicking "change."  After you've entered and saved your unique email address, you can update settings including permitted senders and print options.

Keep in mind you can delete or change your ePrint address at any time.  If you decide to delete your custom ePrint address it will not be available to you or anyone else for six months, preventing others from receiving documents/photos intended for you.

So apart from a few guidelines when selecting your custom ePrint address (pick something between 6 and 30 characters long, letters and/or numbers are okay as well and underscores and up to two dots - but no special character such as % or #) the world is your oyster!  Since your printer address will be much easier to remember, you might also like to revisit the security settings such as setting up an "authorized senders list" - you can do that on the ePrintCenter, too.

So go...hurry up and claim your desired ePrint address before it's taken.  I bet myprinter@hpeprint.com will be one of the first to go...I hope I can claim something like Lizsawesomeprinter@hpeprint.com.

I would still like to find my printer code

MOTORAI (July 19, 2011)

I have a 8500 printer also and it won't print at all from eprint. I set all up, all is ok, wireles workd fine, everything says ready but when I send an e-mail with any kind of file type pdf, jpeg it won't print. it either cancells my print or I get a failure mail back. I have set up all my mail addresses to be cleared for printing, on the eprint settings page. I just don't get it:

Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.7.1 Command rejected (state 18).

What a fantastic printer!!

KevID (July 16, 2011)

I'm just a customer and my B210 is working great, but a number of you have good questions about problems with ePrinting. I had issues when I got my first ePrinter and got assistance in the Forum area. Click HELP at the top of this page, then click ePrint and Print Apps Forums » on the right side. You can post your issue/question there and more likely to get a response from an HP employee. Good Luck everyone.

RicardoJames (July 13, 2011)

Will somebody please help!!!  I managed to secure the E-mail address of my choice and allocated it to my printer.  Unfortunately that printer broke and was replaced for the same printer.  However, now that I have a new printer why can't I use the same E-mail address that I already set up???  I can't remove the original printer from my account as it has gone back to the shop???  surely the E-mail address is attached to my HP account and not a printer???

hpws$12627887020 (July 13, 2011)

I am tried of every time I try to sign in I have to go back and change my password and now the e-mail address I chose for my printer will not work.  I really am disapointed in how this works.

twistedjester (July 11, 2011)

Must be incredibly dense...how do I enable e-print?

rxmaster (July 7, 2011)

so far i can not get this thing working

Bullwinkle (July 7, 2011)

Everything works great.  Email, wifi are perfect.on my Premium C310.  Best printer I've ever owned.

cawilson99 (July 7, 2011)

I also have the Photosmart Prem C310 - companies call printers "All in One" but the literature says clearly "Print - Copy - Scan".  If it could Fax it would also say FAX (as in 4-in-one, which they no longer use, even though that term is clearer.. This one does not fFax.  A phone cord would need to connected to it.

mikefrazier7 (July 7, 2011)

I have just purchased and installed the H/P PhotoSmart Prem C310.  This is supposedly an all-in-one printer:  however, I do hate to sound 'printer-illiterate', but does this model indeed have a Fax as well, or am I kinda outta luck??  Anyone, PLEASE???  Thanks, so much in advance !!

And to to H/P:  Your clientele certainly do seem to be truly sincere (nice, concerned) people - MY kinda people.  Proud to be one.

Mark_Johnson (July 7, 2011)

I have an 8500 e-print printer.  It prints wirelessly just fine, but when I try to send it via the e-print, it won'w print.  Now my printer shows as not connected.  It won't print via the e-print address, but still prints via the wireless.  What's happening?

Andyg63 (July 7, 2011)

My printer is named, email address, web on,  have wireless network report and all looks good,  but email keeps coming back as "rejected"    Anyone else having this problem ?????

DavymcD (July 6, 2011)

Nevlin, when you log in look at the top box which says eprinter, then go to the eprinter settings and click on it. Then you can add only the addresses you want mail to your printer from.

DavymcD (July 6, 2011)

Nevlin, to stop junk mail you can allow only certain addresses to send mail to your printer. I have done this, only allowing the people I want to send direct to my printer.

Nevlin (July 6, 2011)

What the Heck! i dont wanna bebombarded with junk mail, i am the one paying for these ink cartridges. How do i stop this?

hpws$4536783020 (July 5, 2011)

My printer keeps dailing and showing incoming call on the screen. Is this a normal feature? I dont understand why it does that.

kentfxfx (July 5, 2011)

Where is the "change" button? ...anyone?

jontimothy (July 5, 2011)

Looks simple, but I cannot figure it out. when I log in on my computer I have my address. The address I want to change is on my printer. There is no change button beside my address. also, I cannot find the area to lock or unlock my acceptable addresses. HELP!!!

beachmom58 (July 4, 2011)

How do I send my documents to my email address.? I set it up and it is telling me that I have to do something else in the computer? Any ideas?

MacBaby77 (July 4, 2011)

HP just keeps coming up with better ideas all the time. Those assigned ePrint email addresses are impossible-this is a much better option. Now I find myself logging onto ePrint more often now that it's something I can remember. Thanks!

zebraone (July 3, 2011)

I do not understand the 6 to 30 characters and you show an example

Nathaniel54 (July 3, 2011)

i like how great it is

DavymcD (July 2, 2011)

Great printer, and I love the eprint. Will change my eprint address to something easier soon.

hpws$4332248027 (July 1, 2011)

this is wonderful

bfqiue (July 1, 2011)

I will pick my printer's (simpler) email address.

JulicChou (July 1, 2011)

Sounds great! I'll go to get my own printer email address.

Sablewood (July 1, 2011)

This is totally awesome!  I am electronically challenged - blows my mind!  It's truly amazing that a printer is so smart!

dan2010 (July 1, 2011)

That's great but it is just as easy to save a particular cryptic email address on your address book with a simple email name like HP eprint. It then will forward the cryptic full email address. Works good.

What I'd like to see is when you go to the eprint status and it says printed but with errors, explain what the error is so one could correct it without guessing.

I'm having trouble printing .jpg which used to work before but now prints with errors. I reset my email address and it works just fine on documents but not on photos.

hpws$6095262028 (June 30, 2011)

Purchased the e printer on the 1st of May, it is the 1st of July tomorrow and I am finally able to send and receive faxes. I set up the printer address today as well.  It has taken countless telephone calls getting the router address reset and updated to be compatable with the HP e printer.  What I found off the chain is not having telephone connection to technical support or even a chat session would be helpful.  "If feel good!"  As James Brown would shout!

naveen (June 30, 2011)

This is great.... got the printer email address in my name.... just wondering ..After this is there anything more that a printer can do ???

hpws$4479663023 (June 30, 2011)

thank you so much!

KevID (June 30, 2011)

Thanks HP...very cool update! Got the address I wanted. I set up the authorized senders list as well, because anyone logged in to the ePrint center can use the name checker to verify taken addresses. I'm confident enough to put mine out there, so if someone else is bummed that kevinsprinter is taken...you were slow to the gate. Go ahead and try to send me junk, it won't go through...I hope. Honestly I wouldn't mind a wee bit of junk, considering how quiet my machine has been lately. But now that it has a spankin' new address, maybe friends and fams will send me good stuff. HP please feel free to send me free promo code to test it out if you want..I've added myhpsales@hp.com to my list  :)

donaldsaint1 (June 29, 2011)
