- It's here: Pick your printer's (simpler) email address
Until now, everyone who has enabled ePrint capability has had the dubious fortune of trying to memorize a pretty complicated printer address - the 12-character, randomly generated ePrint addresses were not exactly user friendly. However, starting today, every new and existing customer around the world can pick a personalized, custom ePrint address. Here's how:
- Exisiting customers: If you already have an HP ePrint-enabled printer, log into your HP ePrintCenter account. Click the "change" button next to where your existing ePrint address is displayed, and follow the prompts to complete the process.
- New customers: Visit the HP ePrintCenter and sign up for an account. Add your printer to your account and you will see the printer's pre-assigned email address, which you can customize by clicking "change." After you've entered and saved your unique email address, you can update settings including permitted senders and print options.
Keep in mind you can delete or change your ePrint address at any time. If you decide to delete your custom ePrint address it will not be available to you or anyone else for six months, preventing others from receiving documents/photos intended for you.
So apart from a few guidelines when selecting your custom ePrint address (pick something between 6 and 30 characters long, letters and/or numbers are okay as well and underscores and up to two dots - but no special character such as % or #) the world is your oyster! Since your printer address will be much easier to remember, you might also like to revisit the security settings such as setting up an "authorized senders list" - you can do that on the ePrintCenter, too.
So go...hurry up and claim your desired ePrint address before it's taken. I bet email@example.com will be one of the first to go...I hope I can claim something like Lizsawesomeprinter@hpeprint.com.
